Hello from Vermont

Vermont is a state of imaginative artists, interesting landscapes and great beauty. It is also a state which posses a vibrant craft beer scene.East to West and North to South there are a total of 29 craft breweries here (ranked 27th in the US) or there are 6.2 breweries per 100,000 21+ adults (which ranks the state #1 per capita). Vermont produces 229,062 barrels of craft beer (16th in US) which averages out to 15.1 gallons per 21+ adults (ranked #1 in US).

That’s a lot of suds! Since my last visit in 2011, 16 breweries have arrived on the scene with more on the way. The Vermont Brewers Association has a passport program to promote “beer tourism”. Simple enough, you get your brewery passport stamped at participating breweries and when you reach various levels you’re eligible for prizes  ranging from an bottle opener to a tote bag. Getting rewarded for a passion can never be a bad thing in my mind! Many craft beer fans are aware of  some of the larger Vermont breweries like Harpoon (Windsor,VT) and Magic Hat (Burlington,VT). Beer geeks know of what is arguably the most coveted of Vermont craft The Alchemist’s Heady Topper. Over the next few blogs I’m going to introduce you to some of the less familiar craft breweries in the state.Unfortunately I can’t visit them all, after all I only have one week and one liver. I encourage you to take your own beer adventure to Vermont just a short ride north and discover this East Coast beer nirvana! On other information, please checkout https://www.kicrestoration.com/.
